Fairtrade Fortnight 4th March – 17th March
Fairtrade Fortnight
4th March – 17th March 2024
Our World Is Boiling! It’s Time to Adjust The Heat!
This is the Fairtrade Fortnight message 2024. We all need to do our bit to adjust the heat, to adapt to the changing climate. To reduce our contributions from how our homes, communities and businesses that are creating chaotic climate change.
The Annual Fairtrade Fortnight will be celebrated this year between the 4th of March and to 17th of March.
Carrick on Shannon is the only town in Ireland where the Fairtrade parade is going to be held. The Fairtrade parade through Carrick on Shannon streets takes place on the 6th of March at 11 am, starting from the corner of Kelly’s Food store. Everyone is welcome to join in!
Traders are advised to look at your products and do their best to make Fairtrade stock more visible and varied on your shelves.
Fairtrade Schools use your creativity to mark the fortnight e.g. design some posters and bring them along to the parade and perhaps get permission to display some of them in the town.
Leitrim County Council Environment Department and The Chamber of Commerce advertise the fortnight in local papers, and in parish community newsletters creating an awareness of our desire as a town to keep our Fairtrade status as awarded in 2011.
